If you're after the vintage digicam look, the Canon IXUS 140 is a wonderful little point-and-shoot. It packs a decent zoom and a bright screen into a highly portable body. This camera is ideal for taking to parties, vacations, or just casual weekend outings. Just note that it's a casual camera at heart, so it struggles a bit in very dark environments without the flash. For pure point-and-shoot simplicity and fun, it's hard to beat.
